Terms of service
Last updated 17 September 2026. These terms govern use of the ScoutSentinel service and website. Pilot and enterprise customers may have a signed agreement that takes precedence.
1. The agreement
By creating an organisation or using the service you agree to these terms on behalf of yourself and, where applicable, the organisation you represent. "Service" means the ScoutSentinel application, API, probes, documentation and this website. "Customer Data" means data you or your users submit, including Watch plans, secrets and the observations and evidence produced for you.
2. The service
ScoutSentinel exercises customer journeys you define from external locations, evaluates deterministic assertions, stores evidence and produces Events. The service reports what it observed with stated coverage and confidence. It does not guarantee that a journey works for every customer, network or device, and an absence of Events is not a statement that no problem exists.
3. Acceptable use
- You may only point Watches at surfaces you own or are expressly authorised to test. You are responsible for that authorisation and for any consequences of testing.
- You must use synthetic test identities and payment provider test paths, not real customer accounts or live payment instruments, unless we have agreed otherwise in writing.
- You must not use the service to scan, attack, overload or gain unauthorised access to any system, to evade a site owner's bot protection without their permission, or to collect personal data you are not entitled to collect.
- We may pause a Watch that a site owner objects to, that breaches these terms or that threatens the stability of the service, and we will tell you when we do.
4. Accounts and security
You are responsible for your users, their roles and the confidentiality of credentials and API keys. Tell us promptly at security@scoutsentinel.com if you suspect unauthorised access. Secrets you store for probes are encrypted and used only inside probe execution as described in the trust centre.
5. Plans, fees and trials
Plans, entitlements and fees are described on the pricing page. Prices during the pilot are hypotheses and may change with 30 days' notice; customers who start during the pilot keep their price for twelve months from first payment. Fees are billed monthly or annually in advance through Stripe and are non-refundable except as required by law. Trials convert to a paid plan only when you add a payment method.
6. Customer Data and privacy
You own Customer Data. You grant us the rights needed to provide the service, including processing it through the sub-processors listed on the trust centre. We process personal data as your processor under our data processing addendum, available on request. Our privacy policy describes how we handle personal data about you and your users. We may use aggregated, de-identified operational metrics to improve the service; we will not disclose your Watch intent, private assets or evidence to other customers.
7. Evidence, retention and export
Evidence is stored with a cryptographic hash taken at capture, is not edited by the service once stored, and is retained according to your plan. You can export evidence packs at any time while your account is active. On termination you have 30 days to export before deletion. Legal hold, where offered, suspends expiry for evidence you designate.
8. Availability and support
We aim for high availability of the platform and publish status at status.scoutsentinel.com. Business and Enterprise plans include service level commitments and support response targets in their order form. Runner or platform failures are reported as unknown outcomes, never as your failure, and do not count against your journey availability figures.
9. Intellectual property
We own the service, its software and documentation. You may not copy, reverse engineer or resell it except as permitted by law or a written agreement. Feedback you give us may be used without obligation. Trademarks of third parties shown on this site belong to their owners.
10. Warranties and liability
The service is provided with reasonable skill and care. To the extent permitted by law we exclude all other warranties, and our total liability under these terms in any twelve-month period is limited to the fees you paid in that period. Nothing excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else that cannot be excluded by law. We are not liable for decisions you take based on an Event, or for losses caused by a journey failure we detected, failed to detect or reported as unknown.
11. Suspension and termination
You may cancel at any time from billing settings; access continues to the end of the paid period. We may suspend or terminate for material breach, non-payment after 14 days' notice, or a legal requirement. Sections 6, 7, 9, 10 and 12 survive termination.
12. General
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. If a provision is unenforceable the rest remains in force. We may update these terms; material changes are notified to administrators at least 30 days in advance. Notices to us go to legal@scoutsentinel.com.
